Easy to criticise, difficult to improve.
Once, an amateur artist painted beautiful scenery that took him three days to complete. Wanting to know people’s opinion, he put his artwork at a busy street-crossing and just down below it he wrote: “I am new to this profession. Please put a cross wherever you see a mistake.” In the evening he came back to collect his painting and was completely disheartened to see that the whole canvass was filled with Xs (crosses). Later he went to his Master and burst into tears. “I’m useless,” he said, “I am not worth becoming a painter. People have rejected me completely.”
The Master smiled and said, “My Son, I will prove that you are a great artist. Just create a replica of what you painted earlier and come to me.” After three days, he went to the Master who was truly happy about his wonderful creation. He then said, “Come, let
us go to the same place where you displayed your painting earlier.” They reached the street square and displayed the painting with a note: “I am new to this profession. I have put a box with colours and brushes for you. If you see a mistake, kindly pick up the brush and correct it.” In the evening when they returned to check what had happened, the young artist was surprised to see the painting was left untouched, with not a single correction done. The painting was kept there for a month, yet remained the same without any correction!
People who habitually criticise or condemn everything are sick. They are psychologically imbalanced and need help and healing. So do not be discouraged by them; just do your job and move ahead.
